We especially enjoyed the drive up Mont Ventoux (Blue is a keen cyclist), visiting the theatre in Orange, wine tasting in the Chateauneuf du Pape area, the market in St Remy de Provence and visiting Avignon….as well as making the most of the pool after being out and about! Our experience in the Provence wouldn’t have been the same without Lydie’s house waiting for us after wonderful day trips in the area. The house is perfect for big groups – we were 6 people, but there is enough place for 8 people in four bedrooms. The kitchen is very well equipped and we dined every night in the house at the spacious dining room table. There is a wonderful pool with lots of seating around which was perfect after a long day of activities. Check in and check out was with Lydie’s adorable mom (she speaks French and Italian) and the communication with Lydie prior to our stay was super easy and prompt. All important numbers and important things for the house were written down in English which was helpful. The Barbentane village center is a 10 minute walk from the house. You can buy groceries, fresh bread, there’s even a pizzeria, a bank, and a post office. Lydie’s house is perfectly located and makes it very easy to explore this breathtaking region of France. We never drove more than 1 hour and were delighted by the beauty of Provence. We loved the tranquility here. Barbentane is 20 minutes away from Avignon and perfectly located for day trips around Provence. \u00a0\u00ab\u00a0After a week in the busy & crowded streets of Paris, spending the next few days in Lydie’s house was truly a vacation! So peaceful and restful, it was exactly what our family needed. Our only regret is not staying longer — five days is not enough to experience the beauty of Provence! The villa is situated in a perfect location in Barbentane, conveniently close to the TGV station, and central to all the must-see historic sites. The house was perfect for our extended family of 8, which included 2 children and their 2 grandparents — it was very spacious, with a large dining room that seats 10 people. The kitchen was so complete and so well-equipped with everything we could possibly need, that we decided to cook all our meals there, instead of dining out. Lydie provided us with a handy list of nearby places we could drive to for supplies, and her mum was very helpful in pointing us to the wifi-equipped spots in the village. So much care was put into the details by Lydie and her mum into making sure that the guests were comfortable, such as providing new fluffy color-coded towels; new clean sheets and extra comforters; complete bathroom amenities (with wonderfully scented handsoap); more than enough plates & utensils for several meals so we didn’t have to run the dishwasher so often; tables & shelves in the bedrooms for our personal belongings; a bread basket and bread-cutting board; and plastic containers (and even wax paper) to store extra food. We felt truly at home. We definitely will be coming back for another, but this time, longer stay at Lydie’s house. :)<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb (May 2014, Anali, Philippines)<\/p>\n

The house is well equipped with lots of cutlery, pots and dishes so there are plenty of cups and glasses, etc. I also appreciate that three cubes of washing powder were there to operate the washing machine and some soap in the bathroom. However, we did not cook so often but preferred to go out for dinner. Especially the small restaurant \u00ab\u00a0The Romarin\u00a0\u00bb in Barbentane offers an excellent menu starting from 13 \u20ac, but other French restaurants do that as well. Lydie’s mother was very friendly. We do not speak French (only very, very little) but she was patient and explained everything with the help of the documentation you have to sign at arrival and departure. The place is a very good starting point for day-tours (Pond du Gard was amazing, but also Gordes, Roussillon, the Camargue region etc.). We actually used the pool once but the water was still too cold (what do you expect in April), however, the pool area and the pool house are lovely and we would like to come back another time. Another thing to point out is the good communication. Lydie answered our mails quickly and gave us some great tip to attend the Sunday Market in L’Isle sur la Sorgue. \u00ab\u00a0Our stay in Provence was a dream, and Lydie’s house was an important part of it. We were two couples and four young children. The house was perfect for us. The weather was good, the children enjoyed the garden a lot, we had lunch outside, and our dinners were very agreeable, in the dining room that overlooks the garden. This a very well equipped house, and the kitchen has everything you’ll need to prepare meals with the wonderful ingredients you can only find in France. Giaclina, Lydie’s mother, was very welcoming and even left some crayons, pencils and a coloring book for the children and a bottle of wine for us. She was also very patient with us during check-out (thank you, thank you!). Oh, and before our arrival she did some grocery shopping for us, since we’d be arriving at night from a 24h trip with the kids. What could be better than that? We loved the location, close to many attractions and about 10 minutes away from Avignon. You have to have a car, though. The large, sunny dining room was our favorite room with its big windows offering views of the charming garden and the town of Barbentane in the distance. This was where we started everyday with breakfast and gathered at the end of the day with a glass of wine to plan the next day\u2019s adventure. The pool and pool house was another relaxing gathering place to enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the garden overlooking the house. Yes, some of us took a dip in the pool even in September! The villa was in a perfect location for day trips throughout Provence. We explored Avignon, Arles, Orange, Nimes, Aix, Les Baux de Provence and Pont du Gard among other places. But most of all, we enjoyed experiencing life in the village of Barbentane. We were fortunate to be there to attend the annual Horse Festival, (Cheval en Fete) featuring Camarque ponies being paraded through the village and a marvelous horse show. We shopped in the local stores and dined in the local restaurants and explored the local sights\u2014the Bretoule Windmill (a short walk), Barbentane\u2019s medieval tower and the Frigolet Abbey.
